EMMITSBURG, Md. (Sept. 3, 2010) - The Saint Francis women's cross country team started its 2010 slate today, opening up the season with a 1-5 finish at the Mount St. Mary's 5K Duals hosted in Emmitsburg.Competing against a highly competitive field comprised of teams from around the region, the Red Flash earned their sole victory of the day with a 22-34 victory over George Washinton. They fell 41-17 to American, 39-19 to George Mason, 34-21 to Mount St. Mary's, 32-23 to UMBC, and 30-25 to Maryland.
Senior Dani Williams (Altoona, Pa./Bishop Guilfoyle) was the highest finisher for the Red Flash, recording a time of 19:59.43 that was good for 13th place at the meet. She was joined in the top-15 by one of her teammates; sophomore Jennifer Haffner (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) finished just one spot behind Williams, in 14th, with a time of 19:59.43.
Sophomore Rebecca Webster (Lithia, Fla./Newsome) was the third-place finisher for the Red Flash, finishing in 29th overall with a time of 21:36.36. She was followed by Calley Bridges (Slippery Rock, Pa./Slippery Rock), who took 32nd overall with a time of 21:57.02, and freshman Colleen Kelly (Altoona, Pa./Bishop Guilfoyle) earned her first scoring spot of the season by rounding out the top-five with a time of 22:17.39.
