Assistant Professor of Mathematics

Saint Francis University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Mathematics to begin August 2009. Specialty in some area of mathematics or mathematics education desired. The successful applicant will teach a wide range of courses for majors and related disciplines and will contribute to the mathematics undergraduate research program.

Doctorate preferred. Position requires a commitment to teaching excellence, student advising, willingness to participate in the University's General Education Program, academic scholarship, University service, campus and professional activities, and community outreach.

Assistant Professor of Psychology
Search Status: Currently Accepting Applications

Saint Francis University invites applications for a tenure track position at the Assistant Professor level to begin Fall 2009. Primary teaching responsibilities include undergraduate abnormal psychology, lifespan development, and introductory psychology. The successful candidate will also assist the department to develop an applied concentration in one of a number of possible areas, such as health psychology, sports psychology, industrial-organizational psychology, or clinical-community psychology.

Applicants should have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, use of active pedagogies, advising undergraduate majors, involving students in research, multicultural education, and departmental and university governance. The Saint Francis University Psychology department has a strong track record in mentoring students for entry into graduate programs and for immediate post-graduate employment. SFU Psychology faculty members also have the opportunity to participate in various other curricular and co-curricular programs, including an interdisciplinary Social Responsibility Minor, an interdisciplinary Neuroscience Minor, and a nationally recognized SFU general education program.

Assistant /Associate Professor of Neurorehabilitation (Physical Therapy)

Position Description:
12-month tenure track Assistant/Associate Professor with a competitive salary and benefits package.

Qualifications: 
The successful candidate will have experiential knowledge and clinical expertise primarily in neuromuscular rehabilitation, as well as a strong background in acute care practice. A physical therapist with a doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, ScD) is preferred, however an applicant with a Neurological Clinical Specialist Certification pursuing a terminal degree may receive departmental support toward degree completion. The candidate must be eligible for licensure in Pennsylvania, with a minimum of 5 years clinical and teaching experience.

Opportunities within the Position:
We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated individual interested in teaching primarily in the program’s progressive neuromuscular curriculum. Pediatrics and acute care practice are also potential areas of teaching in this faculty role. The flexible nature of this position also offers the successful applicant the possibility of directing student research projects, as well as opportunities to engage in an existing or new research agenda. These scholarly endeavors may be enhanced by the potential to develop research partnerships through collaboration with our community partners at the DiSepio Institute for Rural Health and Wellness and the Center of Excellence for Remote and Medically Underserved Areas (CERMUSA). Faculty-led clinical practice opportunities will be available early in 2009 through our on-campus outpatient facility, which will be housed in the new 30,000 square foot DiSepio Institute for Rural Health and Wellness. Numerous off-campus medical facilities and therapy clinics are also easily accessible for continued professional practice experiences. In addition, the successful candidate is highly encouraged to participate in service to the university through committee involvement, student advisement, and community outreach activities.

Saint Francis University seeks a faculty member (associate or full professor) with extensive higher-education administrative and teaching experience to serve as department chairperson. Accelerated eligibility toward tenure is possible, depending on candidate qualifications.

Faculty member will teach undergraduate courses in Early Childhood Education or Special Education. Nursing Department Senior Faculty / Chairperson (updated posting)

Saint Francis University invites applications for Chairperson of the University’s Department of Nursing. Qualified candidates will possess qualifications required for senior faculty member (associate or full professor) status with higher-education administrative and teaching experience. Accelerated eligibility toward tenure is possible depending on candidate qualifications. This position is a 12-month appointment.

Candidates shall hold a masters’ degree in nursing and an earned doctoral degree (in nursing or a related field) or a specific plan for completing doctoral preparation within five years of appointment along with recent curricular experience, a proven successful record of teaching, and academic administration/ organizational leadership within a program of nursing in a college or university setting. Candidates with an earned doctoral degree preferred.

Current active licensure as a registered nurse in Pennsylvania, or eligibility for licensure, is required. Professional nursing experience and excellent oral and written communication skills are also required. Expertise in securing grants and other external funding is desirable.

The chairperson will teach undergraduate courses in Nursing, participate in the University's General Education program, advise students, maintain scholarship and service activities, mentor Nursing departmental faculty, and coordinate maintenance of CCNE accreditation status.

This position is responsible to the Chairperson, Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering, and Mathematics Departments and to the Director, Science Outreach Center, and performs support services for the Departments of Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering and Mathematics, and the Science Outreach Center. This is a grant-funded position.

Associate degree with training in word processing and office duties in either high school or through post-secondary school courses and/or programs or equivalent experience required. Proficient word processing, spreadsheet, and data entry/data management skills, as well as the ability to operate standard office equipment required. Excellent writing, organizational, communication and presentation skills required. Must be patient, confidential, detail oriented, and able to multi-task. The University has initiated a nationwide search for a founding Dean of the School of Health Sciences, a position recently created as a result of restructuring at the University.

We are seeking a dynamic and visionary academic leader with proven administrative skills who is interested in advancing the School of Health Sciences. The Dean will have an exceptional opportunity to influence the future of health sciences and health and wellness initiatives on campus and in the surrounding communities.

The School of Health Sciences is comprised of four academic departments which include undergraduate programs in Nursing and Exercise Physiology, and graduate programs in Occupational Therapy, Physician Assistant Sciences, and Physical Therapy. Residing within the School of Health Sciences is the DiSepio Institute for Rural Health and Wellness which has as its mission the advancement of the goals of the University which include a mind for excellence, a spirit for peace and justice and a heart for service. The Dean will serve as the Executive Director of the Institute and provide the guidance for the expansion of academic curricula of the University to promote wellness, fitness, and rehabilitation through academic course development, research, clinical practice, and community service initiatives.

Qualifications

Required:
• Advanced doctorate and tenure eligibility at Saint Francis University.
• Minimum of five years experience in academic program administration.
• Teaching experience/excellence in higher education including with interdisciplinary approaches
• Evidence of collaborative partnership development with local and distant communities, businesses, academic departments and faculty.
• Background as a health professional in one of the areas represented by University programs – exercise physiology, nursing, occupational therapy, physician assistant sciences, or physical therapy.
• Research/scholarship accomplishments including a record of peer-reviewed publications, familiarity with the concept of translational research and an interest in developing this line of research.
• Experience in administration of successful community outreach programs and health and wellness initiatives.
• Evidence of success in obtaining extramural funding.
• Demonstrated ability with budget management.
• Track record of effective collaborative approaches to administration.
• Evidence of interdisciplinary understanding and accomplishments.

Preferred:
• Track record as an effective transformational leader.
• Entrepreneurial approach to health and wellness initiatives.
• Experience in effective recruitment of faculty and students.
• Knowledge of and experience with health science accreditation issues.

This position is responsible for the quality and quantity of prepared salad items, vegetable preparation and production. The Attendant prepares and presents items in accordance with established recipes, standards and procedures under strict sanitary conditions.
