Depending on your curriculum needs you may have the opportunity to live with a middle-class host family. During your stay with your host family you will have meals daily along with open conversation and participation in family life. Additional lodging will be in student housing with meals provided. -------------------- Excursions --------------------
The Maya region is rich in Franciscan history. You will take a spiritual journey on an excursion of the “Convent Route” outside of Merida in the Yucatan Peninsula. This tour travels to several small towns and cities where the first Franciscans built churches on top of pyramid ruins. You will also visit Xel-ha, a fabulous ecological park, where you will snorkel and wim with dolphins. Other excursions will include a visit to the Mayan ruins of Chichen Itza, which was recently declared one of the seven new wonders of the world, a weekend in Merida – a beautiful colonial city which is a national heritage site and a ride in a glass-bottomed boat to see the spectacular coral reef off the coast of Cozumel. You will also have the opportunity to serve the orphans of Diudad de la Algria (City of Joy).
