The DiSepio Institute for Rural Health and Wellness located on the Saint Francis University campus in Loretto, is pleased to announce the addition of occupational therapist Dr. Edward Mihelcic, MA, OTR/L to its staff at its DiSepio Center for Rehabilitation. The Center, which opened in July of 2009, has been offering physical therapy services since that time and is now offering occupational therapy services to the regional community. Dr. Mihelcic is currently accepting new patients, and most insurances are accepted.

Dr. Mihelcic brings 27 years of experience in the management of upper extremity injuries with specialization in the area of hand rehabilitation. He earned his bachelor degree in occupational therapy and master of arts degree in leadership studies from Duquesne University and his Ph.D. in administration and leadership studies from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He also currently serves as the program director and research coordinator of the Saint Francis University Occupational Therapy program. He is a member of the American Occupational Therapy Association and the Pennsylvania Occupational Therapy Association.

The DiSepio Center for Rehabilitation therapists help people regain functional abilities for home, work, and leisure. The goal of occupational therapy is to help patients achieve as much personal independence as possible. Occupational therapy involves specialized techniques for teaching adaptive skills for performing daily activities.

The DiSepio Center for Rehabilitation plans to further expand its occupational therapy services in the near future by offering pediatric and neurological care.
