EACH OFFICER IS AN ARMED, CERTIFIED AND SWORN LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER IN THE STATE OF PENNSYLVANIA
We are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
The University Police Department is part of the Department of Risk Management. The Police Department consists of a Sergeant, 5 full-time Uniformed Officers, and 2 part-time Uniformed officers All Officers are armed and have arrest powers in the state of Pennsylvania. Each Officer is a graduate of the Police Academy.
All Officers are certified in First Aid, CPR & AED and receive extensive training to qualify them for their Police responsibilities. All officers additionally receive annual Act 120 police training updates. Ongoing in-service training is varied and all inclusive.
It is our intent to keep the level of professionalism at its highest within the department and to constantly seek new and better ways to serve the Saint Francis University Community.
Officers work closely with local and state law enforcement agencies to ensure cooperation and assistance when needed by our students, faculty, and staff. This good working relationship is considered essential in our effort to control crime on campus and at off-campus University owned or controlled buildings.
If a crime does occur on campus, it will be investigated by our Police Department. The Police Department also investigates violations of the Saint Francis University Student Handbook which is distributed to all students at the beginning of each academic year. These incidents are referred to the Director of Residence Life or the Vice President for Student Development.
Crime Information and Crime Statistics are available for dissemination to our students, faculty, staff and visitors at the University Police Department Office. A campus crime log is maintained detailing all reported incidents and is open for review to any person. Information on crimes that occur on campus is also provided to the Troubadour student newspaper for publication. An annual report of all crimes is compiled and forwarded to the Pennsylvania State Police each January. Members of the State Police forward this information to the FBI for inclusion in the Uniform Crime Report (UCR). You may request an electronic copy of our Clery Report or view it now at SFU Clery Report
