Distance Based Degree Completion Program

 

Due to low enrollment numbers, this program has been discontinued.  The Univeristy will offer courses necessary for program completion to students who are currently active within the program until December 2012.   After that time, courses specific to this program will not be guaranteed to be available on a regular basis.  The University continues to offer online coursework through the Adult Degree and Continuing Studies Office. Students are encouraged to contact this office for course and program offerings if interested. 


 

 The Bachelor of Science in Health Science (BSHS) is a degree completion program designed to provide an accelerated degree pathway for medically training members of the armed forces.  This program provides the opportunity to maximize prior college-level course work and military experiences in the pursuit of a bachelor’s degree. This program incorporates a solid health science core with a general education curriculum reflecting the goals of Franciscan higher education. Completion of this program will aid in preparing the student to pursue a graduate professional healthcare degree.

Course work is offered through distance learning techniques and is geared toward the students’ individual educational needs. The curriculum for the degree program utilizes a variety of distance learning technologies and delivery methods to guarantee that course requirements are met and the content is delivered effectively. Distance learning technologies and delivery methods that may be used include:

  • Virtual Classroom Software (VCS)
  • Archived lectures: making use of the extensive Saint Francis University video streaming technology capabilities
  • Pod casting and streaming media: enables the delivery of asynchronous course materials
  • Discussion boards and chat rooms: enables synchronous and asynchronous course discussions
  • Content materials, including pdf files as well as electronic and print textbooks, will be made accessible for downloading
