The following programs are now accepting registrations or applications:
Central PA STEM Regional Conference - June 14, 2012 at Milton Area High School, Milton, PA.
Kid's College - Two separate weeks are on the schedule this year: June 18-22 and June 25-29. Children can attend one or both weeks.
STEM Summer Academies: Applications are due by April 13, 2012 for high school students who are currently in grades 10 or 11. Summer Academies available this year are: Science & the Art of Discovery, Environmental Engineering Design Academy, and the Gaming Academy.
Mission Statement
The mission of the Science Outreach Center at SFU is to develop relevant, effective, and systemic efforts to promote science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) in the community; increase the number of students pursuing an education in STEM fields; and support K-12 schools and their students in the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
Core programs include the Central Pennsylvania STEM Initiative, credit-granting Summer Academies in science, engineering, and computer gaming for high school students, MSP SEEDS (Math and Science Partnership: STEM Engaging Educators in Design-based Science), in partnership with IU8, for improving science content knowledge for 6-9 teachers, the Pennsylvania Statistics Poster Competition for students in K-12, and Rural Outreach Chemistry for Kids (ROCK). Events are offered throughout the year for students and teachers in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. Please check our upcoming events section for more information.
