Tuition Exchange Scholarship Programs
Revised September 1, 2011

Saint Francis University is a member of three tuition exchange scholarship programs: the CIC (Council of Independent Colleges) Tuition Exchange Program (www.cic.edu), the Catholic College Cooperative Tuition Exchange Program (www.cccte.org) and The Tuition Exchange, Inc. (www.tuitionexchange.org). The tuition exchange scholarship programs are networks of colleges and universities willing to accept students from families of full-time employees of other participating institutions.

Tuition Exchange Application and Selection Process:

· Applicants for a tuition exchange scholarship at Saint Francis must be certified as a candidate by their exporting institution and meet Saint Francis University’s general admission requirements.

· By September 1 of each year, Saint Francis University establishes the total number of scholarships to be awarded for the following academic year.

· Scholarship applications must be received by March 1. Decisions will be mailed no later than March 30. A student has until May 1 to submit his/her tuition deposit and notify the Office of Admissions of his/her commitment to enroll.

Applying to Saint Francis University

· Students seeking consideration for a tuition exchange scholarship must complete the application for admission process and be accepted for admission to be eligible. Students for whom Saint Francis is a first choice are encouraged to apply early for admission. To apply on-line go to www.francis.edu.

Receiving and Renewing a Tuition Exchange Scholarship

· Tuition exchange scholarships are available for up to 4 years (including summer) or until completion of the first baccalaureate degree, which ever comes first.

· All applicants MUST File the FAFSA www.fafsa.ed.gov

· Tuition exchange scholarships are awarded beginning with the fall or spring semester of the student’s first year of enrollment. In order for tuition exchange scholarship funds to be applied to a student’s tuition bill, a student must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Annually, this must be done no later than May 1.

· Tuition exchange scholarships are available for full-time day undergraduate programs, with the exception that tuition exchange scholarships are not available to students pursuing a degree in Physician Assistant Science.

· When a student is awarded a tuition exchange scholarship, the student must maintain full-time status in an undergraduate program each year and comply in full with all policies and procedures of Saint Francis University, including all academic and behavioral expectations.

· Tuition exchange scholarship funds may be used only for tuition charges. If the student receives other “tuition only” scholarships, adjustments to the awards will be necessary. Beginning fall semester 2011, the scholarship will be awarded as tuition charges less Federal and State Grants (Pell, PHEAA, etc) as determined through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid.

· A tuition exchange scholarship covers eight semesters or the completion of a first bachelor’s degree. The scholarship does not cover repeat courses, or summer courses unless summer courses are required as part of the student’s curriculum.

· Any additional costs must be covered by the student. Room and board fees and other Saint Francis University fees are not covered by a tuition exchange scholarship. A copy of the University’s housing policy can be found at: http://www.francis.edu/housingpolicy.aspx A student who is granted a tuition exchange scholarship is not eligible for any other scholarships or grants given by Saint Francis University.

· Tuition exchange scholarships include tuition only for Saint Francis University study abroad programs, and do not include CCSA or self designed consortium agreements for study abroad.

· Annually, the tuition exchange programs officer of the exporting institution is responsible for certifying the tuition exchange scholars each year. Saint Francis University will renew the scholarship upon receipt of the annual certification document provided the student remains in good academic standing (2.75 cumulative GPA or higher) and is in good social/behavioral standing. In addition, the scholarship recipient must remain current in paying of charges not covered by the tuition exchange scholarship in order to receive a scholarship renewal.
